Johnstown Riverhawks Camp Notes February 9, 2006

February 10, 2006 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)
Johnstown RiverHawks News Release

Thursday night at the Indiana Ice and Expo Center located in Indiana Pennsylvania the Johnstown Riverhawks took the first steps towards their run at an AIFL championship. Veterans such as wide receivers Quenteen Robinson, Marko Thomas and free safety Trent Jones came in bigger, faster, stronger this season and immediately stood out as the leadership core of the team.

There was also a great buzz around camp about 3 rookies, Carlos Campbell (Notre Dame), Derrell Poland ( Morgan State) and Dominique Morris (Vanderbilt). Campbell and Poland are no strangers to pro football with Campbell being with the Tampa Bay Bucs previously and Poland with the Georgia Force of the AFL. Morris is a first year pro. These new-comers to the team are expected to push the vets and raise the level of play of the entire team.

During the 3 on 3 portion of practice there were some great catches by Quenteen Robinson and the rookie Derrell Poland. Rookie QB Bob Darnley (SUNY Brookport) looked sharp in this first practice completing some tough down field throws to Marko Thomas and rookie Brach Roache (Morgan State). The Riverhawks get back on the practice field tonight at 7:00 pm and take one step closer to a championship.

The Riverhawks kick off their season on the road March 4, 2006 against the Steubenville Stampede. Come join us for our home opener March 17, 2006 at 7:00 PM against Huntington, WV at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena. Season ticket plans and flex plan packages are on sale now!
