Johnstown RiverHawks News Release
JOHNSTOWN, PA - Early Saturday morning, the Johnstown Riverhawks will board a bus for Saturday Night's match-up versus the Huntington Hero's. The Hawks (3-2) will be looking to continue their 3-game winning streak, as well as pick-up their third straight win on the road. But they will have to beat a Huntington (2-3) team that defeated Johnstown 35-24 earlier this season.
However, much has changed since that meeting. Johnstown has turned the reigns over to lefty quarterback Jarrod Highberger, who has yet to be defeated. The defense has added Neil Wood from Canton, nose tackle Mike Marshall, who had three sacks in last weeks 30-point win over Pittsburgh, and defensive back Ronnie Montgomery out of Mansfield, who has three interceptions in his first two games in Johnstown's lineup. Hawks head coach Steven G. Folmar believes this will be a better match-up then they had before, "We have found our identity now as a squad. When we played the Hero's the first time around, I allowed our team to play their type of game and fell right into their trap. Coach McPeak likes to play low scoring, drag-em-out football. He doesn't care if he only scores 35 points as long as he wins, and he often does. We have to play a little more wide open football which plays to our strengths." A win against Huntington would would move the Hawks into a tie for 2nd place in the division as the Reading Express and Canton Legends, both 4-1, square off Friday Night.
