
Johnson Clears Waivers

Metairie, LA â The New Orleans Zephyrs the Class AAA Pacific Coast League Affiliate of the Houston Astros would like to announce Pitcher Jonathan Johnson has cleared waivers and will report to the Zephyrs on Thursday.
The Astros designated Johnson for assignment on Monday when they purchased the contract of Ron Villone. Johnson was 0-1 with a 5.87 ERA (10ER/15.1 IP) for Houston in four appearances (three starts) this season. He started the year with the Zephyrs and compiled a 4-3 record with a 3.34 ERA (24ER/64.2 IP) in ten appearances (all starts).
The PCL Eastern Division leading Zephyrs and Portland Beavers continue a four game series on Wednesday at 9:05 p.m. The Zephyrs lead the Oklahoma RedHawks by 3 ½ games. The game can be heard on WTIX-AM 690 and at www.zephyrsbaseball.com with Tim Grubbs calling the action.
