New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Metairie, LA â The Houston Astros announced today that the club has recalled Zephyrs right-handed pitcher Rodrigo Rosario. Rosario will take the place of former Zephyr Roy Oswalt on the Astros roster. Oswalt was placed on the 15-day Disabled List, retroactive to June 12. Rosario started 15 games for the Zephyrs this season compiling a 5-7 record with a 4.03 ERA (39ER/87IP), including 32 walks and 68 strikeouts. He will start Saturday for the Astros at Texas.
The Zephyrs have made several moves the past few days. Prior to Saturday's day night doubleheader outfielder Jason Lane was activated from the disabled list. To make room for Lane on the roster, pitcher Greg Miller was sent to Class AA Round Rock. The Astros purchased the contract of Zephyrs pitcher Ron Villone on Monday. To make room for Villone on the roster, the Astros designated pitcher Jonathan Johnson for assignment. Villone was 3-1 with a 1.23 ERA (4ER/29.1 IP) in five appearances (all starts) for the Zephyrs this season. Pitcher Santiago Ramirez was sent to Class AA Round Rock and Miller was sent back to New Orleans on Tuesday.
The Zephyrs and Portland Beavers continue a four game series on Wednesday at 9:05 p.m. The game can be heard on WTIX-AM 690 and at www.zephyrsbaseball.com with Tim Grubbs calling the action.
