John Gavin Named SAL Pitcher of the Week

North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, are proud to announce that pitcher John Gavin has been named SAL Pitcher of the Week. This weeks award ranges from the dates of June 18th through the 24th.
Gavin's outing against the Rome Braves on June 23rd earned him the honor. He went seven innings, not allowing a hit to the Braves. Gavin struck out nine batters while only walking one.
With the award, Gavin adds on to his already impressive 2018 season. He is 2-3 with a 1.79 ERA. That ranks fourth in the South Atlantic League in lowest ERA. Gavin WHIP currently is .89, which is the second lowest in the South Atlantic League.
Gavin grew up a massive San Francisco Giants fan in San Jose, California. He was a 8th round pick out of Cal State Fullerton in the 2017 draft by the Giants.
Gavin is the first GreenJacket to be named Pitcher of the Week. Outfielder Logan Baldwin previously won Player of the Week from May 7th- 13th.
