Johan Peñaranda Wins Save of the Week

WINDSOR, Colo. - Northern Colorado Hailstorm goalkeeper Johan Peñaranda has won USL League One Fans' Choice Save of the Week, for Week 16.

Peñaranda was forced to come off the bench and when starting goalkeeper Thomas Olsen was shown a second yellow card, resulting in a red card, in Sunday's 3-1 win against Charlotte Independence.

Minutes after being brought into the game, Charlotte whipped a cross in that bounced across the face of goal. Charlotte's Khori Bennett was able to get his head on the ball and put a shot on target that surely looked like it was going to bring his side back into the game. Peñaranda was ready for it, though, and was able to get a glove on the shot to deflect the ball for his defense to clear the danger away.

This is the second Save of the Week won by a Northern Colorado player this season. Olsen won the USL League One Fans' Choice Save of the Week in Week 14, for his save against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC's Angel Espana.
