That's what went through defensive back Joel Dullary's head after he caught the first interception in Fighters' franchise history.
Dullary later caught another interception to solidify the team's win over Spokane, 36-33.
A native of New Orleans, Dullary began playing football at age six, idolizing all things New Orleans Saints. Guys like Deuce McAllister and Drew Brees have inspired him both on and off the field.
"The game of football taught me to never give up," said Dullary. "You don't know what can happen in life. Football has taught me to keep fighting and keep pushing."
And that's exactly what he did. He fought through injuries and a global pandemic, and now he's back on the field after three long years.
"I'm grateful," he said. "With the last year, a lot of people had things taken away from them, so being able to go out there and compete with the guys felt great. I've been working hard for this, and everything fell into play for us to be able to take the field together."
In his IFL debut and first game since 2018, Dullary led the Fighters defense with two interceptions. He also kicked off the game after the team's kicker was injured in warmups. Dullary averaged 47 yards per among his six kickoffs. This performance dubbed him The IFL's Defensive Player of the Week and Frisco's Player of the Game.
This also marked his first professional game. He graduated from Nicholls State in 2018 with a degree in petroleum services and played four years for the Colonels.
"It's a pretty big accomplishment for me, but it's a team effort and I couldn't have done it without them up front," he commented.
Dullary credits his teammates for his prolific debut. This coming weekend, Dullary and the Fighters are looking for a second team win against the Louisville Xtreme (0-2).
The Fighters play Louisville at KFC Yum! Center on Saturday, May 22 at 6:05 p.m. CT.
