Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON) - Joanne Haacke, a Grade 4 and 5 teacher at James Strath Public School in Peterborough, is recognized as this week's Petes Overtime Teacher. The Petes want to celebrate educators who have gone above and beyond for their students during these unprecedented times.
The James Strath Public School educator has impacted thousands of lives over her teaching career, ensuring all her students have received the support and help they require.
Nominators David and Carol Fisher say, "We wish to nominate Joanne because we've been eyewitnesses to her amazing work. On top of teaching, we've watched her expertise as a figure skating coach and as an assistant coach of our Kawartha Komets junior team. When I think of an Overtime teacher, Joanne Haacke leads the pack."
A voting period will open up from Saturday, June 19 at 8:00 am until Monday, June 21 at 8:00 pm to crown the ultimate Overtime Teacher of the final four nominees: Marc-Andre Brisson, Amanda McInnes, Daniel Murphy, and Joanne Haacke. The winning teacher will receive an amazing Petes prize package that includes a Zoom call with Petes Head Coach Rob Wilson and goaltenders Tye Austin and Michael Simpson for their students, in addition to two tickets to the Petes home opener.
