Rio Grande Valley Dorados News Release
HIDALGO, TX: February 7, 2005 â The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of arenafootball2 are pleased to announce that wide receiver / defensive back Jimmy Landrom has been assigned to the Dorados 2005 roster by the af2.
"Jimmy has great cover skills and shows great man-to-man coverage," said Dorados Head Coach Kevin Guy. "He has an opportunity to come and compete for a position to begin his pro career with our squad after having a successful college career."
Landrom joins the Dorados after completing a four-season college career in 2003 at NCAA Div. I-AA St. Francis University (Loretto, PA). The 6'0" 185-pound Landrom left the Red Flash program holding the program's career record for pass breakups (36) and punt return yards (377), and ranks second in punt returns (56), punt return average (6.7), kickoff returns (62) and third all-time in career kickoff return yards (1,143). He also registered 105 tackles and 10 interceptions over his 39-game college career.
The Pontiac, Michigan native originally enrolled to Bowling Green and was a teammate of quarterback Josh Harris, but had a change of heart once arriving and transferred to St. Francis prior to the 2000 season. He made quite the impression in his first game, as he ran back four punts for a school-record 86 yards against La Salle. Landrom ret urned 20 punts in 2000 for 172 yards, ranking him amongst the national leaders through most of the season. Prior to college, Landrom was a two-way star at Pontiac Northern High School, where he was a quarterback/cornerback and earned Honarable Mention All-State and Honorable Mention All-Metro (Detroit Free Press) honors.
The addition of Landrom to the Dorados roster gives them 17 members announced to the 2005 roster, joining Brian Baker (QB), John Bradley (OL/DL), J.R. Davies (QB), Sterling Finney (WR/DB), Marquis Floyd (WR/DB), Wil Goff (OL/DL), Will Goodloe (OL/DL), Josh Kellett (QB), Joseph Lemberg (OS), Moses Lewis (TBD), Travis McAlpine (WR/DB), Ben McCombs (DE, FB/LB), David Morrill (FB/LB), Pierre Thomas (WR/DB) and Josh Tubbs (OL/DL). Landrom is one of two Dorados from Pontiac, Michigan joining McAlpine.
