Jets Goalie Brock Kautz Named NAHL Star of the Week

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) yesterday announced Janesville Jets Goaltender Brock Kautz as the North Division Star of the Week for the week ending December 9, 2012.

A returning Jets player originally from Rochester, MN, Kautz was stellar in goal last weekend as the Jets swept intra-state rival the Coulee Region Chill Friday 3-1 and on Saturday 3-2.

Kautz stopped 70 of a combined 73 shots over the weekend, good for a 95.8% save percentage. He only allowed one late third period goal on 28 shots in Friday night's victory and stopped a season-high 43 out of 45 shots Saturday.

He currently is sixth overall in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) save percentage category with an impressive .924%. Overall this season in 21 games, Kautz has a record of 9-9-3 with one shut-out. He has a 2.56 goals against average. Last season with the Jets, Kautz had a record of 8-5-1 and two shut-outs.

Kautz has won four of his last five starts in goal. "I think as we have gotten better and more consistent over the last few weeks, so has Brock," said Jets head coach Joe Dibble. "Brock has valuable experience playing in this league and when he is on his game he is very tough to beat. Experience and confidence are two very beneficial things to a goaltender of his caliber and the team has really fed off his play."

Dibble also added, "Brock has worked very hard to get to where he is today. He gives us a chance to win every night. He has a very bright future ahead of him in his hockey career. He is a team-first type of player and is a natural leader on and off the ice."

Also, Janesville Jets forward Daniel Kucerovy was named Honorable Mention North Division Player of the Week. The Bethel Park, PA, native had a goal and an assist in both games this week for 4 total points.
