Janesville Jets News Release
JANESVILLE, WI - The Janesville Jets selected three forwards with their three selections in Wednesday afternoon's NAHL Supplemental Draft.
The draft was conducted virtually, with live coverage and commentary available on HockeyTV.com.
Each of the 29 NAHL clubs received three selections. As a result of trades conducted in-season, the Jets held their three selections all in the first round with picks 9, 10, and 16.
With their first pick, the Jets selected Ethan Begg, a forward from the Shattuck St. Mary's program. In each of his four years in Faribault, Begg improved his points-per-game, and in January announced his NCAA Division I commitment to the University of Vermont. Begg was selected in the seventh round of last week's USHL Phase II Draft by the Madison Capitols.
The Jets used the very next pick on another forward with a commitment to a Hockey East school. Cy LeClerc announced his commitment to the University of New Hampshire in March of 2019, when he was finishing his final season of 16U with the Seacoast Spartans program. He earned Rookie of the Year honors in his first season with the NCDC's Islanders Hockey Club, and improved his scoring pace last season with 11 goals and 20 assists in just 28 games.
Janesville used its final selection to again re-add Slovakian-born forward Ján Lašák, who played 13 games with the Jets in the fall of 2019, scoring 12 points before a late November call-up brought him to the USHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks. In the inaugural NAHL Supplemental Draft last May, Janesville drafted Lašák with the 11th overall pick. As did many European players last season, mostly due to the extremely rigorous travel challenges, Lašák stayed in Europe. There, he played in four games for the Jokerit U20 squad in Finland's top junior hockey league.
The 2021 NAHL Entry Draft will take place six weeks after the Supplemental Draft, on July 14, 2021.
