Lancaster JetHawks News Release

VISALIA, Calif. - Ramon Laureano hit an inside-the-park home run to account for the only JetHawks run in a 15-1 loss to the Visalia Rawhide on Sunday afternoon at Recreation Park.

Lancaster (32-30) entered the four-game series at Visalia riding a seven-game win streak but left with four losses as they were swept in a four-game series for the second time this season.

Visalia (41-21) jumped ahead with a run in the first inning against starter Matt Bower (2-2) and never looked back. Rudy Flores led the way with a 3-for-5 afternoon. He hit two home runs, including a grand slam in the Rawhide's big seven-run eighth inning. Flores totaled six RBI in the contest.

Bower lasted five innings for the JetHawks and allowed five runs on seven hits. He struck out four and walked three.

Laureano hit his inside-the-park homer in the top of the sixth. His deep fly ball to centerfield went off the wall and bounced away from Chuck Taylor allowing Laureano to come all the way around to score. It was his fourth home run of the season.

Visalia got the run back and more in the bottom half of the inning. Reliever Andrew Thome walked two and hit a batter to load the bases before walking home a run. Ryan Deemes came on to relieve Thome and two more runs came across. All three runs in the frame were charged to Thome.

Deemes tossed a scoreless seventh before giving up seven runs on five hits in the eighth inning.

Visalia starter Ethan Elias (4-3) gave up just one run on five hits over six innings.

The JetHawks begin a three-game series at Rancho Cucamonga on Monday evening. Dean Deetz (3-1) will start for Lancaster against Josh Sborz (5-3). First pitch at LoanMart Field is 7:05 p.m.
