Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Lancaster, CA - The JetHawks held off Rancho Cucamonga's would-be ninth-inning rally on Saturday, giving them a second straight win over the Quakes at The Hangar, this one by a final of 6-5.
Despite home runs from Jared Walker and Cristian Santana, the Quakes just couldn't come up with many clutch hits.
Thanks to an error and a walk in the ninth, the Quakes had the tying run in scoring position and the go-ahead run at first base, but JetHawks' closer Justin Lawrence struck out both Omar Estevez and Cody Thomas, ending the game and giving the JetHawks an opportunity for a three-game sweep on Sunday.
Quakes' starter Austin Hamilton allowed three runs on four hits over three innings in a no-decision.
The JetHawks broke the 3-3 tie in the sixth, as an error opened the door for Manny Melendez, who knocked in two with a two-out double against Parker Curry (6-2).
The Quakes (67-46, 32-11) will try to avoid the sweep on Sunday at 5:05pm. Max Gamboa (1-1) will go for the Quakes, while the JetHawks will counter with Matt Dennis (7-11). Game time will be 5:05pm.
The Quakes will return home on Friday for Walker Buehler Bobblehead Giveaway, thanks to Allstar KIA. Game time on Friday will be 7:05pm and gates open at 6:05pm. Tickets to the game are also available online at rcquakes.com or by calling (909) 481-5000. Go Quakes!
