Jethawks Bats Go Quiet In 4-2 Loss To 66ers

LANCASTER, Calif. - The JetHawks mustered just four hits in a 4-2 loss to the Inland Empire 66ers at San Manuel Stadium on Wednesday night, evening the series at one game apiece.

With Lake Elsinore's loss in Rancho Cucamonga, the JetHawks remained 2.5 games up on the Storm in the South Division second half standings.

Lancaster took its only lead of the game with a run in the top of the first inning. Bobby Boyd doubled, stole third, and scored on a two-out RBI single by Drew Ferguson.

The 66ers came right back with three runs in the bottom of the first and never trailed from there. Hutton Moyer delivered an RBI double to tie the game and Zach Houchins hit a two-run homer.

Inland Empire added one in the third on back-to-back doubles by Michael Hermosillo and David Fletcher to open the frame. The JetHawks cut the deficit to two with an unearned run in the sixth.

Rogelio Armenteros (6-4) struck out seven over six and two-thirds innings, but suffered the loss.

Garrett Nuss (2-2) allowed only two hits and one run in five innings to earn the win. He struck out five. Lancaster native Winston Lavendier pitched a perfect ninth inning and picked up his second save.

The JetHawks and 66ers play the rubber game of their three-game series on Thursday night at San Manuel Stadium. First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
