(Rapid City, SD) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Rush forward Jesse Schultz has been named a starter for the 2012 CHL All-Star Game scheduled for Wednesday, January 11, 2012. The contests will take place in Prescott Valley, Arizona at Tim's Toyota Center and for the fourth straight season, the game will have a format that will feature the home team (Arizona Sundogs) taking on a team of CHL All-Stars.

Schultz currently leads the league with 43 points and 29 assists through 27 games played. The veteran leads the Rush in goals, assists, points, powerplay assists and powerplay points.

"Obviously this is a tremendous honor for Jesse and the entire Rush organization when you have a player selected by his peers as starter for All-Star Game," said Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras. "Jesse has been outstanding for us from day one and he competes on a nightly basis. His leadership both on the ice and in the locker room has been essential with the many young guys we have on our roster. Jesse is very deserving and this is an award that can be shared along with his teammates."

The Strasbourg, Saskatchewan native was the top vote-getting forward, appearing on 31 of the 53 total ballots cast. Schultz is joined by forwards Bruce Graham (ALN) and Brandon Marino (QDC), defenseman Andrew Martens (WIC) and Jeff Terminesi (TUL), and goaltender Nick Boucher (FTW) as the CHL All-Star starters.

Back on December 12th, the Strasbourg, Saskatchewan native earned Oakley CHL Player of the Week honors. The award marked the first league honor for the Rush this year and first for Schultz who joined the team in March of last season. For the week, Schultz paced the Rush with seven points on three goals and four assists and a plus-6 rating.

This is the second All-Star starter selection for the Rush. During the inaugural campaign of 2008-09, Rich Hansen was picked to represent the Rush as a starter for the CHL All-Star game held in Colorado.
