Bucks Fall to Brahmas

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, were defeated by the Texas Brahmas 4-1.

The Laredo Bucks and the Texas Brahmas met for the 5th time this season on Wednesday night. The teams have split their previous four meetings, each team taking home two victories.

The Brahmas were the first to strike, when Erik Spady scored at only 2:01 in the first period. They lit the lamp again after Phil Fox scored on a breakaway at 11:42, giving the Brahmas a 2-0 lead. Torrie Jung faced 18 shots on goal during the period. The Bucks only had 5 shots during the frame.

The Brahmas scored early again in the frame, when Jordan Kelly scored a quick wrist shot at 2:23. The Bucks played more physically during the second period as Justin Styffe dropped the gloves against Erik Spady at 4:01. Later in the period, Phil Fox scored the fourth goal for Texas at 12:02. However, the Bucks did outshoot the Brahmas 11-5 in the second.

The Bucks got on the board at 7:05 in the third period when Joseph Harcharik put a wrist shot through the legs of the Brahmas' netminder. Harcharik was assisted by Tyler Stitt and David Inman. The Bucks had two powerplay opportunities in the period, but were unable to convert on the man advantage. The Bucks and Brahmas each had 7 shots on net during the final frame.

The Laredo Bucks are halfway done in their seven game road trip. They will now travel to Allen for two games, Friday December 30th and Saturday December 31st. The Bucks and Americans will face each other for five straight games. The Bucks' next home game will be Saturday January 7th at 7:30pm, when they face the Americans at the Laredo Energy Arena.
