Calgary, AB - After a 32-goal season for the Calgary Roughnecks, Captain Jesse King has raised a total of $2,880 for the Believe in the Gold Foundation, in partnership with YES TV.
For every goal the Roughnecks forward scored during the 2023-24 NLL regular season, YES TV contributed $50 to the total, with King and the Roughnecks Foundation also contributing $20 each.
"It was great, to be able to give back to an organization supporting families with cancer, which means a lot to me. To have partners in the Roughnecks Foundation and YES TV, that believed in me and wanted to help me give back as well, was even better," said Jesse King.
"YES TV was thrilled to partner with Jesse in his goal scoring initiative this season, benefitting childhood cancer research. His passion and willingness to help others will change lives and we congratulate him on his efforts" said Robert Melnichuk, Director, YES TV Western Canada.
The Believe in the Gold Foundation was started by Shonalie Uphill in memory of her daughter, Jacey, who lost her battle with Ewings Sarcoma in 2012. The Calgary, Alberta charity is committed to raising awareness of Childhood Cancer, raising funds to help support families with medical expenses that are not covered by Provincial Health Care or extended benefit plans, and raising funds for Childhood Cancer research.
