Jerseys from USA-Mexico Clash to Kickoff Soccer Unites Utah Online Auction Tomorrow

SANDY, UT (Friday, February 13, 2009) - Real Salt Lake is proud to announce that authentic match jerseys from this Wednesday's USA-Mexico World Cup Qualifier will launch the online memorabilia auction on behalf of Soccer Unites Utah, which begins tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 14. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to Soccer Unites Utah, a grass roots charitable group raising funds to offset medical costs for Marcia Williams - the wife of RSL MF Andy Williams - who has waged a fight against a rare form of Leukemia since being diagnosed with the disease last summer.

The two tops from Wednesday's contest - a U.S. team-autographed Brad Guzan goalkeeper kit and the #17 jersey of one of Mexico's most electrifying young stars, Giovani dos Santos - have been added to a impressive collection of memorabilia that also includes 25 player-worn MLS jerseys from throughout the League's history and an autographed 2008 Olympic match ball signed by the squad that represented the United States in China last summer. Beginning tomorrow, RSL and Soccer Unites Utah will put up two items a day for auction on eBay, with each piece separately available for bidding for seven days. Real Salt Lake's official team blog, Behind the Shield - found online at www.RSLtotheCore.com - will preview each jersey the day before they appear for auction and will also provide direct links to the eBay pages where the auctions will be housed.

Real Salt Lake and Soccer Unites Utah would like to recognize FC Dallas equipment manager Marcus Owens, who donated the expansive collection of MLS jerseys, and the U.S. and Mexican Soccer Federations for their kindness in donating items to be included in the auction, just the latest in a series of efforts by Soccer Unites Utah and the American soccer community at large to not only help the Williams family during difficult times, but also to raise awareness in regards to bone marrow donation.
