South Carolina Stingrays News Release

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, re-signed forward Patrick Gaul, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today.

For the third consecutive summer, Gaul, 25, becomes the first player signed by the Stingrays for upcoming season. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native registered 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points in 61 regular-season games last season, added 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 27 Kelly Cup Playoff contests, helped the Stingrays reach the Kelly Cup Finals for the fourth time in team history, tying an ECHL record, and earned the 2014-15 Jerry Zucker Community Service Award for his dedication to the Charleston community.

"I'm pumped to be coming back," exclaimed Gaul. "It's nice to feel comfortable with an organization and with the city. The fans and the community have been very welcoming to me. We had a great run last year in the regular season and all the way through the playoffs and the way that last game went left a sour taste in my mouth. I'm looking forward to getting back into playoff mode."

"He is a pillar of our organization and an example to all of our players on and off the ice," mentioned Carbery. "We welcome him with open arms. Now he's really recognizable as someone who identifies with our organization and what our team is about. Patrick Gaul is the face a lot of people see. We are glad to have him back on board this year."
