Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS (July 2nd) - The Wichita Thunder, proud member of the ECHL and powered by Toyota, announced their first player for the 2015-16 season with the re-signing of forward Kenton Miller.
"We are very excited to have Kenton back in Wichita for another season," commented Head Coach Kevin McClelland. " He was very solid for us down the middle and improved on his numbers from the previous year. We look forward to see how he can build on that in October."
Miller, 24, returns to the Air Capital for his second stint in a Thunder uniform. A native of Redvers, Saskatchewan, Miller compiled 43 points (17g, 26a) in 58 games last season. The 6-foot, 196-pound forward was acquired from the Indy Fuel for future considerations last October. Entering his fourth year as a pro, Miller earned a call-up to the Manchester Monarchs and appeared in four games for the eventual AHL champions.
"I'm excited to come back and to see the returning players that can get us back to the playoffs," commented Miller. "I'm ready to start the season off right and help us be at the top from the beginning of the season. I really enjoyed playing in front of the fans last year and can't wait to get going."
His best season as a pro came during his rookie campaign in 2012-13 with the Missouri Mavericks, recording 51 points (30g, 21a) in 53 games. Miller began the 2013-14 season with the Utah Grizzlies before being dealt to the Fort Wayne Komets. He finished with 20 points (6g, 14a) in 55 games that year. Prior to turning pro, Miller had a solid junior career, piling up 117 points (60g, 57a) in 242 contests between Spokane, Calgary and Moose Jaw of the WHL from 2008-12.
