Jefferson, Magette Lead Magic over BayHawks
March 10, 2020 - NBA G League (G League)
Osceola Magic News Release
The Lakeland Magic won their sixth straight game tonight behind the stellar play of Amile Jefferson and Josh Magette. The BayHawks started the game on fire, shooting over 77% from the field in the first quarter while hitting six of their first seven three-point shots. Vitto Brown finished the first period with 13 points giving the BayHawks an early 13 point lead.
In their first game back home after a successful six-game road trip, the Magic settled down in the second quarter and closed the deficit to just one point going into the half. The two teams exchanged buckets for most of the third as Magette's 12 points in the quarter gave Lakeland a narrow lead. Jalen Adams dropped 17 points in the fourth quarter but it proved to be no match for the offensive onslaught the Magic delivered in the final period. Melvin Frazier Jr. poured in 13 of Lakeland's 37 fourth quarter points, as hot shooting and dominant rebounding propelled the Magic to a 131-120 victory.
Jefferson, who has yet to lose a game when playing in the G League this season, recorded his seventh straight double-double in impressive fashion, finishing with 30 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. Magette was just as effective and narrowly missed a triple-double, posting 25 points, 9 rebounds, 14 assists, and two steals. Frazier Jr. added 27 points and four rebounds. Andrew Rowsey was extremely efficient, scoring 20 points in 22 minutes on 8-14 shooting from the field and 3-5 from range.
Brown finished with a big double-double of his own, posting 26 points and 14 rebounds. Adams finished with 25 points and six assists. Josh Gray added 19 points, eight assists, and four rebounds.
The Lakeland Magic look to extend their winning streak on Thursday, March 12 at home against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM. The game will be available on NBAGLeague.com
