Ottawa Black Bears News Release
OTTAWA, ON - The National Lacrosse League announced finalists for its annual season-end awards today, honoring the best NLL players, coaches, and executives for the 2023-24 regular season. Among the finalists is Ottawa Black Bears star forward Jeff Teat, who joins Josh Byrne and Dhane Smith of the Buffalo Bandits as the three up for the league's Offensive Player of the Year Award.
The 26-year-old Brampton, Ontario native set a career high in goals in his third NLL season with 58, two more than his previous high set in the 2022-23 season where he led the league in points. This season, Teat became the first player since Callum Crawford in 2018-19/2019-20 to lead the league in goals in back-to-back seasons and the second player in NLL history to record two 55+ goal seasons, joining lacrosse legend Gary Gait.
"What can I say that hasn't already been said about Jeff," said Black Bears General Manager Rich Lisk. "In his three short years in the league, he has established himself as one of, if not the best, in the NLL. Jeff epitomizes what a true teammate and lacrosse player is, and I am proud to have him representing our organization."
The award winners will be announced next week in advance of the 2024 NLL Finals.
