INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Pitcher Jayson Durocher will begin a rehabilitation assignment with the Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday when the Indians host the Pawtucket Red Sox in a 7:00 game at Victory Field.

Durocher, a 28-year-old righthander, has not pitched in a game this season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow to remove bone spurs on March 8. During the past week, he threw three sessions in extended spring training including 35 pitches Saturday without pain.

Durocher, 6'3", 229 lbs., opened the 2002 season with Indianapolis and went 1-0 with a 2.73 ERA and two saves in 20 relief appearances. He struck out 39 batters in 26.1 innings before earning a promotion to Milwaukee on June 9. The 11th-year pro made his major league debut on June 11 and finished the season with the Brewers recording a 1-1 mark and a 1.88 ERA in 39 games. He did not allow a run over his final 13 appearances.

Durocher's grandfather was a cousin of Hall of Fame manager Leo Durocher. Durocher will be the second player to rehab with the Indians this season. Outfielder Brady Clark was with the team from April 3-14.
