Jaxx take both ends of doubleheader

(Jackson, TN) July 3rd- The Diamond Jaxx snapped their season high seven game losing streak on Monday night and started a two game winning streak in the process as the Diamond Jaxx swept a doubleheader from Huntsville. The Diamond Jaxx won the first game 10-9 in nine innings and took the nightcap 7-6. The win puts the Diamond Jaxx into a fourth place tie with Huntsville, four games behind Chattanooga and Tennessee in the Northern Division.

Chris Minaker played the hero in both games as he drove in the winning run with a one out single in the bottom of the ninth inning and then slapped a one out single down the right field line to drive in the game winner in the nightcap. Minaker's game winning heroics in the opener gave Mumba Rivera the victory. Rivera (4-4) allowed a run on one hit with three walks and four strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. Charlton Jimerson had three hits and four RBI's to help pace the offense. The two teams combined to walk eighteen batters in a game that took four hours and seven minutes to play. In the nightcap, the Diamond Jaxx got home runs from Matt Tuiasosopo and Jimerson, who hit his club high fourteenth round tripper of the season. Craig James worked the final two innings to pick up the win, raising his record to 3-2 on the season.

The Diamond Jaxx and Stars will play the final game of the four game series on Tuesday night at 7:05 CDT. Right-hander Travis Chick (2-1 2.45) will toe the rubber for the Diamond Jaxx. Huntsville will counter with lefty Lindsey Gulin (6-3 3.51).
