Chattanooga, TN- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx jumped out to a 5-0 lead and then hung on to a 5-3 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts before a Friday night crowd of 6,054 fans at Bell South Park.

Aaron Sisk gave the Diamond Jaxx a 2-0 lead in the second with a two run homer, his fourth of the season. The homer came off losing pitcher Jeff Bruksch (3-6). The Diamond Jaxx made it 5-0 in the 5th inning on a two run double by Ryan Theriot and a sacrifice fly by Adam Greenberg.

While the offense was scoring, Jaxx starter Renyel Pinto was dealing. After escaping a bases-loaded jam in the first, Pinto (8-2) allowed just four hits through the first five innings. In the 6th inning, D'Angelo Jimenez slugged a two run homer off Pinto, pulling the Lookouts to within 5-2. Chattanooga made it 5-3 in the eighth inning on a run scoring single by Kevin Howard off reliever David Aardsma. Andy Shipman came on in the ninth and struckout Stephen Smitherman with two on to end the game. Shipman nailed down his seventh save of the season.

The middle game of the series takes place on Saturday night at 6:15 CDT. Left-hander Ryan O'Malley (3-1 5.27) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Chattanooga will counter with righty Bobby Basham (1-2 2.49).
