MOBILE, AL- BayBears pitcher Cesar Carrillo (2-0) has won his first two starts since being promoted to the BayBears. Carrillo pitched six innings and allowed four hits in a BayBears 4-1 win Friday night. Mobile hit two home runs in the game, a two run shot by Corey Smith in the first inning, and a solo shot by Joe Gerber in the seventh.
Jacksonville's lone run came two pitches into the game. After Tony Abreau hit a triple to lead off the game, Jon Weber singled him home to give the Suns a 1-0 lead at the time. The BayBears bullpen of Paul Abraham, Ryan Meaux, and Dale Thayer pitched a scoreless final three innings. Thayer pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his now league-leading 20th save.
The BayBears and Suns will play a doubleheader Saturday, with game one beginning at 6:05 p.m. The BayBears will wear pink uniforms in game one in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, and then auction the jerseys off, with the proceeds going to Breast Cancer Awareness in the Mobile area.
