
Jason deVos Joins Toronto FC Coaching Staff

Toronto FC announced today Jason deVos as the newest addition to Head Coach John Herdman's coaching staff.
"It's an important step to have an experienced leader, such as Jason, joining our coaching staff," said Head Coach John Herdman. "His playing experiences at club and international level combined with his understanding of the game will help continue to raise standards and improve our team."
deVos joins Toronto FC's coaching staff as an Assistant Coach after spending the past seven years as Canada Soccer's Director of Development. In his new role with the Reds, deVos will focus on developing defensive strategies and providing individual support to backline players. During his time with Canada Soccer, deVos was also part of Herdman's coaching staff at the Summer Olympic Games (Rio 2016) and the FIFA World Cup (Qatar 2022). Before departing Canada Soccer, he served as the interim General Secretary from May 12, 2023.
The London, Ontario native enjoyed a notable playing career as a professional soccer player. He made a combined 453 appearances, scoring 35 goals through his 18-year playing career, featuring for the London Lasers, Kitchener Kickers and Montreal Impact before heading overseas to play for Darlington FC, Dundee United, Wigan Athletic and Ipswich Town. At the international level, deVos earned 49 caps for the Canada Men's National Team, scoring four goals since his debut against Iran in August 1997. He represented Canada at the 1991 Pan American Games in Cuba, FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, FIFA Confederations Cup, and Concacaf Gold Cup. In February 2000, deVos scored the winning goal against Colombia to help Canada lift the Gold Cup for the first time in the nation's history. On April 19, 2013, deVos was inducted into Canada's Soccer Hall of Fame.
deVos holds a UEFA A Diploma (2013), UEFA PRO Diploma (2016) and Canada Soccer Coaching A Diploma (2020).
