Houston Dash News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell was named a finalist for the Goalkeeper of the Year award by the NWSL. Fans can vote for Campbell through Friday, Oct. 27.
Campbell anchored one of the best defensive units in NWSL history. The Dash backline conceded the fewest goals in the regular season with just 18 goals conceded across 22 games. The mark is the third lowest all-time in league play behind the North Carolina Courage in 2018 and matched by Portland in 2021 who set the record with 17 goals allowed through 24 games.
The shot stopper was recently named to the Best XI for September and October. During that stretch Campbell recorded 37 saves and two shutouts across five matches, allowing just four goals. The goalkeeper tallied at least six saves in all five matches, including a nine-save performance against San Diego Wave FC on Sept. 3.
Throughout the 2023 campaign, Campbell played every minute of the regular season, becoming just the second goalkeeper in league history to record three ironwoman seasons and the first to do so with one club.
Campbell, who was drafted No. 15 overall by Houston in the 2017 NWSL Draft, also made the most regular season saves this year, nearly missing out on century mark at 93 saves.
To add to her stellar 2023 regular season campaign, Campbell broke the club record for most regular season appearances with 126 appearances to date. She was one of three goalkeepers to record eight clean sheets this season, a club and personal record.
