Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Carolina Thunderbirds are pleased to announce the return of forward Jan Salak for the 2018-19 season.

Salak, 24, split time with the Thunderbirds and HC Moravske Budejovice 2005 in the Czech3 league last season. As a Thunderbird, Salak played in 18 games tallying 26 points (8G-18A) and appeared in both playoff games the Thunderbirds played in during the 2017-18 season.

"We're happy to have [Salak] back" head coach Andre Niec said. "He's a strong guy, a big power forward and it's hard to take the puck away from him one on one. He brings a lot to our hockey team and I'm very excited he'll be back with us this season."

Salak will be entering his fourth season in the FHL. He spent time previously with the Brewster Bulldogs and Berlin River Drivers. Including playoffs, Salak has played in 98 FHL games racking up 32 goals and 57 assists in that time.
