Jammers Use Middle-Inning Surge for Third Straight Win

Jamestown scored four times in the fourth inning to take the lead and Isaac Morales pitched four brilliant innings in relief, propelling the team to an 8-3 win over the visiting State College Spikes.

The Jammers have now won three games in a row for the first time this season and sit atop the New York-Penn League's Pinckney Division.

Aaron Senne started the inning by reaching on an error by Spikes pitcher Zack Von Rosenberg. The pitcher was covering first base on a grounder to first baseman Gerlis Rodriguez, but he missed Rodriguez's toss. The next four batters had run-scoring hits, including back-to-back triples by James Wooster and Dallas Poulk.

The Jammers tacked on one run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth to secure the victory.

State College scored in the top of the first inning off starter Adam Veres, who walked three batters in the frame. Jamestown tied the score with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but the Spikes regained the lead with two runs in the top of third. All three runs were unearned, however, as the Jammers committed an error in both innings. Veres pitched four innings, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks. He struck out three batters.

Isaac Morales came on in relief of Veres and dazzled, striking out seven Spikes in four shutout innings. He allowed just three hits without a walk in earning the victory. The loss went to Von Rosenberg, who allowed five runs (four earned) in four innings of work.

NOTES: Wilfredo Gimenez went 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to six games and his multi-hit streak to three games...he raised his batting average to .440 in the victory...Morales' victory was his third, giving him sole possession of the league lead...in 10 innings of work, he has a 0.90 ERA with 16 strikeouts against four hits and four walks.
