Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers lost their fourth straight game last night falling to the Batavia Muckdogs 6-3 at Eastwood. Nicholas Longmire hit a grand slam home run to break the 2-2 and the Muckdogs went on to win their fourth game of the season. The Scrappers will send right hander Alex Kaminsky to the mound as he will look for his second win of the season. Andrew Moss will get the start for Batavia. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
FIELDS FILE: Aaron Fields went 2-4 with two doubles driving in two of Mahoning Valley's three runs.
LONGMIRE LIFT OFF: Muckdogs centerfielder Nicholas Longmire hit a grand slam home run last night which proved to be the game winning shot. His three home runs on the season lead the New York Penn League.
AT HOME VERSUS BATAVIA IN 2009: Mahoning Valley was 3-2 versus Batavia at Eastwood Field in 2009.
ON THE ROAD VERSUS AUBURN IN 2009: Mahoning Valley was 4-1 against Batavia at Dwyer Stadium in 2009.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: The Batavia Muckdogs are the NY-Penn League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. 2010 will mark the 4th season that Batavia has been affiliated with the Muckdogs. The Muckdogs went 37-39 last season finishing 12 games back of the first place Scrappers in the Pinckney Division of the New York Penn League and missing the post-season.
2010 SEASON SERIES: The Scrappers are 0-1 against the Muckdogs in 2010. Mahoning Valley was 7-3 against Batavia in 2009. The Scrappers are 67-62 all-time against Batavia.
