Jamie Fritsch Returns to Wranglers

Las Vegas, Nev. - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) announced today that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Jamie Fritsch (pronounced "Fritch") for the 2011-12 season. Fritsch is the second defenseman signed by the Wranglers this season, joining fellow returning Wrangler and blueliner Mike Madill ("Ma-DILL").

Fritsch, 26, played for the Wranglers in the 2010-11 season, collecting 10 points (3g, 7a) and 56 penalty minutes across 54 regular-season games, and an additional point (1a) and two penalty minutes in two playoff games. The 6'2, 195-pound Maryland native earned a call-up to the AHL's Houston Aeros for 13 games as well.

"Coach Mougenel does a great job of getting a great group of players together for a really competitive team," Fritsch said. "We had a good, young, hardworking team [my first season] and I've spent my summer training in New Hampshire. I'm excited to be playing in Las Vegas again."

Fritsch spent his 2009-10 season with the Gwinnett Gladiators, where he tallied five points (1g, 4a) and 41 penalty minutes in 48 games, and was also called up to the Norfolk Admirals (AHL) for two games. After four seasons (2005-09) at the University of New Hampshire, with 39 points (11g, 28a) and 171 penalty minutes in 146 games, Fritsch appeared in one game with the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers.

"Jamie really solidified himself as a premier defenseman in the ECHL," General Manager and Head Coach Ryan Mougenel said. "He has many facets to his game and he is one of the hardest defenseman to play against in the league. Jamie's high-quality character will be beneficial to the team, and we are ecstatic to have him back."

The Wranglers host Opening Night, billed as "The Last Professional Hockey Game on Earth," on Friday, October 21st, 2011 at 7:05 PM against Ontario Reign. 2011-12 season seat packages are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Area, located adjacent to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
