Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced today that they have re-signed forward Alex Penner. Penner has spent parts of the past two seasons with the Eagles in the Central Hockey League, but also has ECHL and AHL experience on his resume. The 6-foot-4-inch, 225-pound winger spent 38 games with the Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL) and eight games with the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL) during the 2008-09 season.
Penner, younger brother of goaltender Andrew Penner (the club's all-time leader in wins), has accumulated 28 points (13-15-38) and 669 penalty minutes in 171 professional games. Many of his PIMs (he averages 3.9 per game) have come via his 62 career fights. Offensively, his two best seasons statistically have come while wearing an Eagles jersey as he averaged .24 points-per-game in 2009-10 and .29 points-per-game last season.
The Eagles will begin their preseason camp on Friday, Sept. 30. They will then travel to Alaska for preseason games on Oct. 4 & 5 before playing their only preseason game at the Budweiser Events Center on Friday, Oct. 7 against the Las Vegas Wranglers.
The 2011-12 ECHL regular season begins on Friday, Oct. 14, with the Eagles' home-opener taking place on Friday, Oct. 21. A complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com.
