Aces Re-Sign Veteran Defenseman Bryan Miller

The 2011 Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces have re-signed All-ECHL veteran defenseman, Bryan Miller for the 2011-2012 season, Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Thursday. Miller will enter his fifth season in Alaska, and is the longest tenured player on the Aces roster, dating back to the 2007-2008 season. Miller and the Aces will begin the defense of the Kelly Cup Championship with a pair of pre-season games against the Colorado Eagles on October 4 & 5 at Sullivan Arena, promoting cancer awareness. Miller, 28, is the first veteran signing by the Aces this season. Last year the 5"10", 190 lbs. blue liner had 41 points (8g, 33a) in 64 games, setting career highs with in both assists and points. He was named to the All-ECHL Second Team as a defenseman. Miller has spent the majority of his pro career with Alaska. The Wayne, NJ native and former Boston University product has played 213 of his 335 career games in an Aces sweater. He has also played 69 AHL games, including six in 2008-2009 with the Providence Bruins, under the recently-named Aces Head Coach. He has been a rock for the Aces the last three seasons, with 120 points (28g, 92a) in 189 regular season games from the blue line. He has also been a big-time performer in the playoffs, with 26 points (6g, 20a) in 38 games over that span, leading the Aces to two different Kelly Cup Finals appearances, and the 2011 ECHL Championship. He begins this season tied for seventh place in Aces games played in the ECHL era.

Miller led all ECHL Western Conference defensemen in scoring last season, and was tied for fourth overall among blue liners. He added six points (2g, 4a) in 13 playoff games. He scored one of the biggest goals in Aces franchise history with his overtime, power play goal in Game Two of the Kelly Cup Finals, giving the Aces a 2-0 series lead, and sending them on their way to a five-game series victory. Miller's pro totals include 192 points (42g, 150a) in 335 games.

The 2011 Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces will begin the 2011-2012 season on Friday, October 14 at Sullivan Arena when they host the Las Vegas Wranglers.
