
James Takes No-No Into Seventh; RiverHawks Win, 4-1

ROCKFORD, Ill. â Two returning Frontier League all-stars, one pitching and one hitting, led the Rockford RiverHawks to a 4-1 win over the Windy City ThunderBolts.
Lefty starter Frank James took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and Rich Austin led off the second inning with a home run in front of 3,091 at Marinelli Field.
Peanut Williams led off the seventh with a line-drive single to left field, breaking up James' no-hit bid. Williams later scored on a fielder's choice, breaking the shutout.
James (7-3) struck out a season-high nine batters in seven innings. He and three relievers combined on a two-hitter. Closer Josh Latimer pitched a perfect ninth inning for his eighth save.
Austin broke a scoreless tie with his eighth home run. Rockford added three runs in the fourth inning on RBI singles by Aaron McEachran and Dave Bernstine.
Chris Reilly (2-3) allowed four hits and pitched into the seventh inning, but took the loss.
Game two of the series is Rich Austin Bobblehead Doll, sponsored by U.S. Cellular and Y95. The first 1,000 fans through the gates get a bobblehead doll, baseball's top giveaway item, featuring the visage of the RiverHawks' veteran all-star right fielder. Gates open at 6 p.m.; the first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 â the Hub and at the team website. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 12th season.
