November 25, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Jacksonville Slam News Release

The Jacksonville Jam survived a 3 point onslaught to claim their 6th consecutive victory to open up the ABA season on Friday night at the UNF Arena.

The West Palm Beach Imperials shot 20 for 47 from 3 point range for the game, as they challenged Jacksonville on their homecourt. Bobby St. Preux shot 6 for 12 from beyond the 3 point line and Carl Jenkins contributed 6 more 3's in 9 attempts as the Imperials lit up the nets throwing up deep 3's throughout the entire game Friday evening.

Jacksonville also had a hot hand all night long on the offensive end of the court as they shot 63.1% from the floor and placed 6 players into double figures for the game.

The Jam led 32-29 at the end of the first quarter, but found themselves down by 1 point (55-54) at the break. In the 3rd quarter Palm Beach extended its lead up to 13 points midway through the 3rd quarter. But as they've done so many times early this season, the Jam battled back to even the score at the 8 minute mark of the 4th quarter and led by 7 points heading into the final 2 minutes of the game. Palm Beach used full-court pressure and continued to fire up 3's to cut the Jam lead to one point with just under a minute to play. Jacksonville fought off the late game challenge of Palm Beach to claim a 4 point victory and the second victory over the Imperials this week. Jacksonville now stands 6-0 on the young season and Palm Beach dropped to 1-3 on the season thus far.

Jerry Williams led the Jam in scoring with 30 points. DeRon Rutledge had 21 points and 11 rebounds. Trey Moore, who hit key shots during the Jam's comeback in the second half added 19 points. The Anthony Haymon, Donald Harris, and Anthony Lumpkin scored 18, 18, and 14 points respectively to give the Jam 6 players once again in double figures. Derrick Williams made his return to the starting lineup after missing the last 3 games with a badly strained knee. Williams ended the evening with 7 points and 10 assist. Palm Beach were led in scoring by St. Preux 33 points and Jenkins 31 points. Rolando Hall also added 23 points.

Jacksonville will be off until next Friday when they host the Miami Tropics at UNF Arena. Tip-Off is scheduled for 7:05pm.
