Jam Season Ends in 114-107 Defeat

BAKERSFIELD, April 14, 2013 - The Bakersfield Jam (0-2) were defeated at home Sunday night by the Austin Toros (2-0), 114-107. Austin wins the series 2-0, and advances to the semi-final round against the Santa Cruz Warriors.

In a must-win game, Bakersfield started the game with a high-level of energy and effort at both ends of the court, as they held Austin to just 31% shooting in the first quarter and surged to a 29-18 lead after one. The Jam maintained their double-digit lead in most of the second quarter, ending the first half up 59-49. However, the Toros outscored the Jam by seven in the third and by 10 in the fourth to pull away with the series victory and upset the number one-seeded Jam in the first round.

Brian Butch led the Jam with a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Stephen Dennis off the bench had 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Suns assignee Diante Garrett finished with 19 points, nine assists and five rebounds. James Nunnally had 12 points, while Renaldo Major contributed 11 points and six rebounds.

Austin was paced by Tre Kelley who had a game-high of 29 points. Lester Hudson posted a double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds. Chris Roberts contributed 13 points off the bench for the Toros. Rick Jackson finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
