SANTA CRUZ, CALIF., February 10, 2015 - The Bakersfield Jam (23-10) rallied from an 18-point first half deficit to beat the Santa Cruz Warriors (19-12) 102-96 Tuesday night at the Kaiser Permanente Arena. Reggie Bullock scored a game-high 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting.
Despite trailing by 15 points in the opening period and by 18 early in the second quarter, Bakersfield ended the first half on a strong note and went into the break trailing by just three points (55-52). After outscoring Santa Cruz 36-24 in the second frame, the Jam outscored them 25-18 in the third and began the fourth quarter with a 77-73 advantage.
The fourth quarter went back-and-forth as both teams played hard and aggressive on both ends of the floor. The decisive play of the game came in the final minute when Jamil Wilson hit a crucial three-pointer that gave Bakersfield a 94-91 lead with 54.9 seconds left. Wilson's shot sparked a 7-0 run by the Jam, which ultimately helped seal the road victory.
Archie Goodwin finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Joe Jackson off the bench posted 17 points, seven assists, six rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Jerel McNeal had 15 points, six rebounds and four steals. Mac Koshwal added a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Mychel Thompson (19 points, 8 rebounds) and Dominique Sutton (19 points, 13 rebounds) led the way for the Warriors. Aaron Craft tallied 14 points.
Bakersfield will next head into the All-Star break and have a week off before returning to action on Tuesday, February 17 when they host the Los Angeles D-Fenders. Coach Bjorkgren and the rest of the Jam coaching staff will be off to Brooklyn for the NBA D-League All-Star Game on Saturday, February 14.
