BAKERSFIELD, CALIF., December 1, 2014 - The Bakersfield Jam (5-3) overcame a 13-point first half deficit and defeated the Oklahoma City Blue (2-4) 107-103 Monday night.
Oklahoma City led for the majority of the first half and shot 46.2 percent from the field to Bakersfield's 42.2. After trailing by as many as 13 points, the Jam gained a little momentum late in the second quarter and used an 11-3 run to cut their deficit to single digits at the half (59-50).
Bakersfield's late momentum to end the first half carried over in the third, as they outscored Oklahoma City 27-17 and went into the final frame with a 77-76 advantage. In the fourth, the Jam stretched their lead to as many as 10 points, but the Blue charged up a run of their own and tied the game (89-89) at the 4:34 mark. With 46.3 seconds left and a 99-98 Jam lead, Robert Vaden drilled a huge three-pointer that ultimately helped seal a Bakersfield victory. Elijah Millsap (22 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals) and Jamil Wilson (22 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks) led the way for the Jam. Chris Wright scored 15 points, while Earl Barron chipped in a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Xavier Munford notched 15 points.
The Blue were led by their Oklahoma City Thunder assignees Mitch McGary (21 points, 11 rebounds) and Grant Jerrett (16 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists). Marquis Teague tallied 18 points and a game-high nine assists.
Bakersfield finished their three-game road trip with a 2-1 record. The Jam will next return home for a match against the Reno Bighorns on Friday, December 5. Tip off is set at 7:00 p.m. PT at the Dignity Health Event Center.
