Bakersfield Jam News Release

SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Bakersfield Jam (0-1) fell to the Santa Cruz Warriors (1-0), 104-87, Friday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena. C.J. Wilcox, on assignment from the Los Angeles Clippers, led the Jam with 22 points (8/14 FGs) and six rebounds.

Bakersfield ended the first quarter shooting 42.3 percent from the field, compared to Santa Cruz's 53.8 percent, and trailed 33-21. Despite Wilcox's 10-point quarter performance in the second period, the Jam continued to battle from behind and went into the half with a 62-42 deficit.

Santa Cruz stretched their lead to as many as 27 in the third. The Jam held the Warriors to 18 points on 38.9 percent shooting in the final frame, and got within 13 points at the 5:15 mark, but it wasn't enough to pull a comeback win.

Earl Clark recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Branden Dawson, also on assignment from the Clippers, tallied 12 points. Kyle Casey and Askia Booker each finished with 10 points apiece.

The Warriors were led by Elliot Williams (23 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) and Daniel Orton (22 points). Darington Hobson added a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Bakersfield will travel back home for its season home opener on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. PT against the Reno Bighorns.
