May 31, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

Cleveland Indians RHP Jake Westbrook is expected to make a rehabilitation start for the Buffalo Bisons on Friday, June 1 against the Toledo Mud Hens (7:35 p.m.). Westbrook is expected to throw three innings or 50 pitches before scheduled starter LHP Jason Stanford takes over.

Westbrook, 29, was placed on the disabled list by Cleveland on May 7 (retroactive to May 3) with a strained left abdominal muscle. He was removed with the injury from his start on May 2 against Toronto after just an inning and a third of work (2H, R, ER, 2BB). The sinker baller is 1-2 with a 7.90ERA in six starts with the Tribe this season (27.1IP, 32H, 26R, 24ER, 14BB, 18K).

One of the top pitchers in the American League, Westbrook has won 14 or more games in each of the past three seasons. From 2004-2006, he compiled a 44-34 record and a 4.01ERA in 99 games.

This will be the fourth season Westbrook has seen action with the Bisons. From 2001-2003, he was an impressive 10-1 with a 3.01ERA in 15 starts with Buffalo.
