
IL All-Star Field Staff Announced

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Ottawa Lynx skipper and reigning International League Manager of the Year, John Russell has been selected to lead the IL All-Stars in the 2007 Triple-A All-Star Game, the International League announced today. Joining Russell on the IL staff are Rochester Red Wings manager Stan Cliburn, Buffalo Bisons manager Torey Lovullo, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre athletic trainer Darren London. The best of the International League and Pacific Coast League will face off in the 20th annual contest to be held at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 11th.
MANAGER: JOHN RUSSELL
This is John Russell's first season at the helm for the Ottawa Lynx ball club and his tenth season as a minor league manager. He is a former first-round draft pick by the Philadelphia Phillies and spent ten years as a player in the Major Leagues with the Phillies, Braves, and Rangers organizations. After spending the first eight seasons of his managerial career in the Minnesota Twins organization, he returned to the Phillies last season to lead the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons to an 84-58 record and an International League North Division title. In 2002, Russell's Edmonton Trappers captured the Pacific Coast League crown to give him his first League Championship. During the 2003-2005 seasons, he served as a Third Base Coach and a Catching Instructor with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
COACH: STAN CLIBURN
Rochester Red Wings skipper Stan Cliburn is in his 19th year as a minor league manager and his eighth with the Minnesota Twins organization. In 2006 Stan led the Red Wings into the Governors' Cup Finals for their first appearance since 1997. While leading the New Britain Rock Cats in five campaigns, he established himself as the winningest manager in the club's history by posting a record of 367-337. In 2001, the Jackson, Mississippi native was named the Eastern League Manager of the Year. As a player, he spent 14 seasons in the California Angels, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Atlanta Braves organizations.
COACH: TOREY LOVULLO
2007 marks Lovullo's second season as the manager of the Buffalo Bisons, and his sixth as a manager in the Cleveland Indians organization. In 2005, he was named the Eastern League's Manager of the Year after leading Double-A Akron to the EL Championship, repeating a feat he accomplished just one year earlier by winning a Carolina League Championship and Manager of the Year honors with Single-A Kingston. His career record currently stands at 426-322. Lovullo's playing career stretched 14 seasons and included 116 games at the Major League level with the California Angels. Torey is a member of the Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame.
TRAINER: DARREN LONDON
Darren returns to the Triple-A All-Star Game after serving in the same capacity for the IL squad at the 1999 Game in New Orleans. Currently the athletic trainer for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, London is in his 19th season with the Yankees organization and his 15th as a trainer at the Triple-A level. He began his career with Single-A Prince William in 1989 before joining Single-A Ft. Lauderdale in 1991, Double-A Albany in 1992, and Triple-A Columbus in 1993. Hailing from Sherman Station, Maine, London graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and a Coaching Minor from the University of Maine-Orono.
