May 31, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
The International League today announced that Bisons Manager Torey Lovullo will serve on the coaching staff for the International League All-Star team. The top players in the IL will face the PCL's best in the 20th annual Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 11 in Albuquerque, NM.
Lovullo has led the 2007 Bisons to a 29-20 record in the first half of his second season as manager. Buffalo leads the IL with 18 road wins and has been in first place in the International League since May 5. The Herd is also the highest scoring team in the league, averaging 5.0 runs a game.
In 2006, Lovullo became the first person in the Modern Era to play for and then become manager of the Buffalo Bisons. He led the Herd to a winning record of 73-68. The Buffalo Baseball Hall of Famer played three seasons with the team, winning an American Association Championship in 1997 and an IL Championship in 1998.
This is Lovullo's sixth season as a manager in the Cleveland Indians system. He won championships and Manager of the Year honors in 2004 with Single-A Kinston of the Carolina League and in 2005 with Double-A Akron of the Eastern League.
Ottawa Lynx skipper and reigning IL Manager of the Year, John Russell will serve as the International League's All-Star Manager. Lovullo will serve as a coach along with Rochester's Stan Cliburn. Darren London of Scranton/WB will be the IL's athletic trainer.
