Jackson Generals News Release

Chattanooga, Tenn. - Marcus Littlewood and Jabari Henry hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning to put Jackson on top by seven runs Sunday, but Chattanooga battled back to force extras and earn a walk-off win in the tenth inning by an 11-10 final. The winning run scored on a Zach Shank throwing error, completing the biggest comeback for a team against the Generals this season and giving the Lookouts their only lead of the night.

With the game tied at 10 in the tenth, Moises Hernandez (3-10, 5.71) entered in relief for Jackson (23-45, 52-84). The righty started the inning by hitting Stephen Wickens before giving up a double to Shannon Wilkerson that put men on second and third with nobody out. After striking out Jorge Polanco, Hernandez intentionally walked Southern League MVP Max Kepler to load the bases. Travis Harrison followed by hitting a bouncing ball to second base. Zach Shank's throw home went all the way to the backstop, allowing Wickens to score the winning run for Chattanooga (33-35, 76-60) on one of three Jackson errors in the game.

Brandon Peterson (2-1, 3.38) earned the win for Chattnooga with two scoreless innings of relief. He struck out the side in the ninth inning and worked around a pair of walks in the tenth.

Jackson was sitting pretty for much of the team's penultimate game. Jordy Lara's first-inning sacrifice fly put the Generals on top and gave him an RBI in a fifth-consecutive game. The score would stay 1-0 until the fifth, when Jackson added three more. Tyler Smith followed Ian Miller's sacrifice fly with a two-run double to make it 4-0.

Chattanooga got on the board against James Gillheeney in the bottom of the inning on Levi Michael's RBI two-bagger, but the Generals answered in a big way. With two on and one out, Marcus Littlewood launched a three-run homer to left field that knocked Chattanooga starter Brett Lee out of the game. Jabari Henry welcomed reliever Jake Reed with a solo homer on the first pitch he saw to make it 8-1 Generals.

Littlewood and Henry became the first Jackson players to hit back-to-back home runs this season. Henry joined Jabari Blash as Generals to hit 10 this year, while Littlewood led the way on offense with a team-high three hits and three RBIs.

The Lookouts began chipping away with four runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth. James Gillheeney allowed the first four men of the inning to reach, and all four would score. Travis Harrison drove in a run with a single, Adam Brett Walker hit a sacrifice fly and Jairo Rodriguez plated two with a base hit to bring the Lookouts within three.

Leon Landry gave Jackson some breathing room in the top of the seventh, plating a pair on a two-run single to give the Generals a 10-5 lead. Landry had two hits in the contest, joining Littlewood, Luis Caballero and Tyler Smith with multi-hit games.

The comfortable lead was short-lived, as Chattanooga scored once in the seventh and four times in the eighth to tie the contest. Wilkerson tripled and scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh to make it 10-7. All four of the Lookouts' runs in the eighth came with two outs while Trey Cochran-Gil was on the mound. Stephen Wickens singled home a run and Jorge Polanco's RBI double two batters later made it a one-run game. Max Kepler drove in Polanco with a single to centerfield, tying the contest 10-10 and completing an improbable comeback.

The seven-run led was the largest that Jackson had lost in a game this year. The Generals fell to 5-6 in extra-inning games while losing in walk-off fashion for the sixth time this year.

Jackson's final game of 2015 will also be a rubber match against the Chattanooga Lookouts Monday afternoon.
