BayBears Close out 2015 Season with 4-2 Win over Pensacola

PENSACOLA, FL - The Mobile BayBears (36-32, 70-67) ended their 2015 season with a 4-2 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (38-32, 63-75) on Monday afternoon at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.

On Sunday, a loss to the Blue Wahoos ended the BayBears run of five consecutive trips to the post-season as Pensacola clinched their first Division Championship. Mobile's recent playoff stretch began in 2010 with the BayBears winning back-to-back Southern League titles in 2011 and 2012. Only the Birmingham Barons had made more consecutive playoff births. The Barons made six straight playoff appearances from 2000 to 2005.

The BayBears struck first on Monday with a solo homer from Mark Thomas. The long ball was Thomas' second home run and seventh RBI of the five game series in Pensacola. Gabriel Guerrero added a homer of his own pushing the Mobile lead to 2-0.

In the top of the sixth inning, Socrates Brito singled to bring his 2015 batting average to an even .300.

Mobile opens the 2016 season on the road as part as a seven game road trip. The BayBears will play a five game set in Kodak, Tennessee against the Tennessee Smokies April 7-11, then continue with two games at MGM Park against the Biloxi Shuckers before the series shifts to Mobile.

The BayBears open the doors to Hank Aaron Stadium for the first time in 2016 against the Shuckers, beginning on Thursday night April 14.
