JACKSONVILLE - Andrew Jackson High school snags another catch after hiring the Jacksonville Sharks powerhouse linebacker and fullback Zack Brown as their new linebackers coach. The 2019 First Team All-NAL player will be joining his teammate Devin Wilson on the sidelines to coach high school football this upcoming season.

"I have always wanted to coach high school football, and with one of my teammates already coaching there, it made my decision to coach at Andrew Jackson very easy," said Brown.

Since 2014, Brown has been coaching youth and high school football and currently coaches at Tiftarea Academy in Tifton, GA. He enjoys coaching because it is an opportunity to be a role model to younger boys and influence them in the right direction.

Brown is a former American Arena League (AAL) player and won the 2018 championship with the Atlanta Havoc. He played in the 2018 AAL All-Star Game as a linebacker. On Oct. 24, 2019, he signed with the Jacksonville Sharks.

During the 2019 season, Brown played all 16 games on both sides of the ball as a defensive lineman and offensive fullback. In only his first season with the Sharks, Brown was sixth on the team in tackles with 31 plus 13 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and one forced fumble. On offense, he rushed 20 attempts for 38 yards and eight rushing touchdowns.

Thrilled to coach with his teammate Devin Wilson, Brown is optimistic for the 2021 season amid the Tigers losing 4-5 record last season.

"I'm very excited to be coaching with Devin Wilson because I know the knowledge that he's going to give to the kids and I know he's going to have them ready to go to war on Friday nights," he said.

Although a professional athlete, Brown says that coaching youth and high school boys helps him to become a better athlete.

"Well, coaching really makes me a better athlete because of the film study. As a coach, you have to watch film and break down the best plays other teams like to run; As a player, watching film will make the game much easy for you on game day. So it really helps me to focus more on my professional career."
