Jacks Take Game Three by a 6-3 Final

(North Richland Hills, TX) - Two goals in the first seven minutes of the third period turned a one-goal Odessa Jackalopes lead into a 6-3 win over the Texas Brahmas in game three of the Southern Conference Semifinals at the NYTEX Sports Centre on Wednesday night. Odessa now trails the Brahmas, 2-1, and have forced at least one more game to be played on their home ice.

Jeff Pierce and Mike Ramsay each scored the early third period goals as Pierce's tally at 4:50 was his second of the game, then Ramsay's wrist from the left circle at 6:41 gave Odessa a 5-2 lead. Adam Corneyko added a goal for the Brahma's and Odessa's Dominic Leveille also scored an empty netter to cement the final score.

Juha Toivonen stopped 28 of 31 shots in his first playoff game of 2010 to pick up the win.

Odessa took early control of the game with three goals in the first 11 minutes of the first period. Pierce netted a power play goal at 4:50 on a no-look, backhand pass from Collin Circelli along the right side of the net. Garrett Gruenke then scored his first of the playoffs when his wrister from the left point bounced past Brett Jaeger at 7:20. Alex Dunn made it a 3-0 lead through a crowd in front of the goal crease at 10:32 on assists from Circelli and Sebastien Thinel.

The Brahmas closed the gap to 3-2 after scoring on two of their three second period power plays. Jordan Cameron put Texas on the board at 3:51 on a shot from the left circle. Then Justin Kinnunen scored his third of the playoffs at 10:33 on a two-man advantage for Texas.

Game four between Odessa and Texas will be on Friday at 7:05 PM at the NYTEX Sports Centre. Game five will be back in Odessa on Saturday at 7:05 PM. All the action can be heard on Classic Rock 102.1 FM.
