Bucks All-Star Levasseur Called Up To NHL

LAREDO, TX- Laredo Bucks All-Star goaltender J.P Levasseur was called up to the National Hockey League's Anaheim Ducks Tuesday night. Levassuer heads to the NHL from the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons. Levasseur will suit up for the Ducks Wednesday night in Colorado.

The 23-year-old Levasseur (pronounced lev-ah-SUR) started the season with the Bucks and was named a starter for the South Texas All-Stars. In 16 games with Laredo Levasseur went 10-3-3 with a 2.31 G.A.A and a.919 sv.%. Levasseur was named Oakley/CHL goaltender of the week on November 9th after leading the Bucks to two one-goal victories in Arizona (one in a shootout). Levassuer also claimed goaltender of the month honors in November as he went 6-1-1 in the month, including winning four-straight one-goal games from November 6th-15th.

Levasseur was called up on December 14th and appeared in 25 contests with Springfield this season, posting an 8-16-1 record with a 3.59 G.A.A and.896 SV%. Levasseur recorded one shutout with the Falcons, stopping all 49 shots he faced in a 4-0 triumph over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Feb. 14th.

The Victoriaville, Quebec native was drafted in the seventh round (#197 overall) by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, and spent parts of the last two seasons in the AHL. Levassuer was on loan to the Bucks this season from Anaheim.

Levasseur has played in 76 career AHL games, posting a combined record of 26-36-6 with the Portland Pirates ('07-08), Iowa Chops ('08-09) and Springfield Falcons (09-10).
