Odessa Jackalopes News Release

ODESSA, TX - One comeback was all the Jackalopes could muster on Saturday night as they fell 6-2 to the Topeka Pilots at the Ector County Coliseum.

After Topeka skated to a 2-0 lead in the first six minutes of the game, the Jackalopes settled in and clawed their way back. Joseph Winkelmann scored after receiving a perfect touch-pass from Vaclav Zidek. Winkelmann knifed in between the defensemen and sent a shot low that beat the Pilot netminder and put Odessa on the board.

Down 2-1 the Jackalopes continued to apply the pressure in the second period as Patrick Dawson tied the game up with a shot from the left point less then a minutes into the middle period. But unlike Friday night when the Jacks surged ahead to win in regulation, this time it was the Pilots who surged.

Topeka scored three unanswered goals to close out the second period and added one more on the power play in the third to defeat Odessa 6-2. The sudden surge and shift in momentum was too much for the Jacks to handle as they failed to find an answer and get momentum back on their side.

The Jackalopes will travel to Shreveport next week for their final road series of the season when they face the Mudbugs. Face-off for both games is set for 7:11 pm.
