Bulls Dump Brahmas 5-3
March 24, 2019 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Amarillo Bulls News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - The Amarillo Bulls nearly let a 3-0 lead get away from them on Saturday night at NYTEX Sports Center. But in the end, the Bulls had enough offense to push past the Lone Star Brahmas 5-3 for their 42nd win of the season and 8th in the Battle Of The Cattle Series.
Logan Jenuwine had three goals to give him 54 for the season. The Romeo, Michigan native is just one goal away from tying the North American Hockey League record for most goals in a season that was set in the early 1990s. Other marksmen for the Bulls were Nick Trela and Gabriel Seger. Justin Evenson notched the win in goal.
It was all Amarillo in the opening 20 minutes with three goals that sent starting goaltender Seth Eisele to the bench early. Gabriel Seger, Logan Jenuwine and Nick Trela provided the goals, while Nick Anderson, Gagik Malayan, Brenden West and Seger added the helpers.
The Brahmas added one late in the period thanks to a power play goal off the stick of Blake Evennou. The Bulls outshot the home side 9-7 in the first period.
The second period was once again not one of the strongest parts of the game for the Amarillo Bulls as for the second straight night they managed just one shot on goal. Lone Star made it a one-goal game as Michal Stinil scored off a miscue by the visitors.
It took 22 seconds of the third period for the Bulls restore their two goal lead as Logan Jenuwine scored on a great shot from Gabriel Seger and Alex Peterson. Down the stretch, the Brahmas kept pressing and pulled their goaltender in the final minute looking to get to within one shot. Joey Baez scored with just 50 seconds remaining in regulation. However on the ensuing face-off the Bulls collected the puck inside their own end and Logan Jenuwine shot the length of the ice and into the open net.
The Bulls were outshot 25-18 and were blanked on five power play opportunities in the game.
